Sometimes the birds outside my window make such magical sounds that I think I hear a phone with a fancy tone ringing

"When I was young there were beatniks. Hippies. Punks. Gangsters. Now you’re a hacktivist. Which I would probably be if I was 20. Shuttin’ down MasterCard. But there’s no look to that lifestyle! Besides just wearing a bad outfit with bad posture. Has WikiLeaks caused a look? No! I’m mad about that. If your kid comes out of the bedroom and says he just shut down the government, it seems to me he should at least have an outfit for that."
- John Waters on the sorry style of today’s rebels  (emphasis mine)

We need a look.

Seven Mile Bridge, Marathon, Florida

This is where Jed lives.

In fucking paradise.

Why would you leave this place for
Cigarette-Sydney?
I can buy 4 marathon houses for the cost of one decent house in Sydney.

On one hand - I am overwhelmed by his love.
On the other - I question his judgement.

Why can’t I just live in Florida and visit my fam in stinkysydney on the weekend’s on my imaginary private jet ?
Why can’t I just be a millionaire?
WHY?

There is a fundamental reason why we look at the sky with wonder and longing—for the same reason that we stand, hour after hour, gazing at the distant swell of the open ocean. There is something like an ancient wisdom, encoded and tucked away in our DNA, that knows its point of origin as surely as a salmonid knows its creek. Intellectually, we may not want to return there, but the genes know, and long for their origins—their home in the salty depths. But if the seas are our immediate source, the penultimate source is certainly the heavens…The spectacular truth is—and this is something that your DNA has known all along—the very atoms of your body—the iron, calcium, phosphorus, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and on and on—were initially forged in long-dead stars. This is why, when you stand outside under a moonless, country sky, you feel some ineffable tugging at your innards. We are star stuff. Keep looking up.
